Leading Bigelow Tea as a Certified Woman-Owned Company

As third-generation president and CEO, Cindi Bigelow has transformed her family’s tea company into a nationally recognized, WBENC-certified woman-owned business while honoring the legacy begun in 1945.
Bigelow Tea was founded in 1945 by Ruth Campbell Bigelow. Today, under the leadership of her granddaughter Cindi Bigelow, President and CEO, the company continues that legacy and is now certified by the Women’s Business Enterprise National Council (WBENC) as a woman owned and operated small business.
What Cindi’s Leadership Has Achieved
- WBENC certification
- Market expansion: Bigelow Tea is the #1 tea company in the U.S.
- Product innovation, cultivation of key partnerships, and the adoption of sustainability initiatives
Over the past two decades, Cindi, who succeeded her father David C. Bigelow in operating the family business, continues to prioritize the company's core values of care, compassion and drive which are the cornerstone of Bigelow Tea’s pioneering excellence and corporate culture, a commitment to a purpose far beyond making profits where the aim is to always do better.
The Women’s Business Enterprise National Council is the leading organization in the United States dedicated to certifying and supporting businesses owned, led, and controlled by women. Its certification is recognized nationwide as a reliable standard and ethical business leadership. This aligns closely with how Cindi Bigelow views her role.
“It has been a blessing and a privilege to lead my family’s company over the past twenty years,” said third generation president and CEO Cindi Bigelow. “Earning the WBENC certification is an honor I hold with great responsibility as I carry forward the values my family instilled: running an ethical business that cares for its people and its community, always focused on doing the right thing while leading with care, compassion, and drive.”
