What Are Natural Flavors in Bigelow Tea?

Published 3/13/26
Bigelow Tea uses natural flavors derived from real fruits, spices, flowers, herbs, and other botanicals. When those ingredients are used, it is to complement the flavor of each recipe. It is important to note anything identified as a natural flavor must be derived from natural sources.
Why Use Natural Flavors?
At Bigelow Tea, we might add a natural lemon flavor, derived from real lemons, to complement the lemon peel used in a recipe as lemon peel alone will not provide the “lemony” profile that we are trying to achieve. Another example would be when we use a natural cinnamon flavor. We will use this natural flavor along with cinnamon to create a spicier more flavorful cup.
What is Included in “Other” Natural Flavors
When a natural flavor is a combination of multiple real fruits, spices, flowers, herbs, and other botanicals, it is often identified as a specific natural flavor with other natural flavors. For example, if the natural flavor is not solely derived from a lemon and has added lime, to create a more enhanced citrus taste, this flavor is labeled as a “natural lemon flavor with other natural flavors.” Another example would be pomegranate and raspberry. A raspberry natural flavor derived from raspberries would be added to a pomegranate natural flavor which is also derived from a natural pomegranate to create a fruitier cup. The label would identify “natural pomegranate flavor with other natural flavors.” It is important to note though that anything identified as a natural flavor must be derived from natural sources.
