There Is No Glyphosate In A Cup Of Bigelow Tea

Published March 13, 2026
Bigelow Tea tests for over 450 pesticides including glyphosate. All tests consistently indicate there are no pesticides in a cup of Bigelow tea.
What Is Glyphosate
Glyphosate is an herbicide used throughout the world to control weeds in agricultural settings.
All agricultural products sold in America must follow strict guidelines set by the EPA on the amount of pesticides allowed per food group. There is no exception for glyphosate. Glyphosate, like all other pesticides, has very clear standards.
Recognizing its wide use, the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has established maximum allowable levels by type of crop. It is important to note that tea has some of the most restrictive guidelines as it relates to glyphosate as illustrated below in a few examples.

Tea Industry and Supplier Practices
In the tea industry, top quality suppliers such as the ones used by Bigelow Tea, do not want to use pesticides. The tea bush unlike fruits, such as strawberries and apples, does not have the same need to protect the bush from pests. The caffeine in the tea bush is a natural insect deterrent for the tea plant thus it repels insects.
Bigelow Tea Testing
Bigelow continues to test for over 450 pesticides including glyphosate, with all results consistently indicating there is zero glyphosate or any other pesticide in a cup of Bigelow Tea.
