Non-GMO Teas
All Bigelow Tea products are non-GMO. Bigelow Tea works closely with its suppliers to verify that ingredients comply with federal bioengineered food regulations.
Support for Federal GMO Labeling Standards
Bigelow Tea supported the establishment of a single national standard for GMO labeling. In 2014, the Grocery Manufacturers Association urged the federal government to create national regulations for GMO labeling. At the time, several states were developing their own state-specific packaging requirements, which would have created a patchwork of differing laws for manufacturers to follow.
Bigelow Tea supported the GMA’s position that a unified federal standard was needed.
Federal Legislation
In 2016, after input from the manufacturing community, the U.S. government passed the National Bioengineered Food Disclosure Standard, establishing national GMO labeling guidelines for all companies to follow.
