How to Make Iced Tea, The Bigelow Tea Way

Red Raspberry Herbal And Perfectly Mint Black Iced Tea

Are you looking for a new way to enjoy your favorite Bigelow teas? Why not try one or a combination of your favorite flavors as a refreshing glass of iced tea?  At Bigelow Tea, a third-generation, family-owned company, our teas are made with premium, high-quality ingredients, to create good-for-you, unique flavors that can be enjoyed either hot or over ice.

Brewing your own iced tea has a number of benefits based on the green tea, black tea or herbal teas you are using. Additionally, making iced tea at home is less expensive and contains less sugar than most bottled beverages.  To add to this great list this study found on Healthline share that iced tea contains polyphenols which like flavonoids can help the body to fight off free radicals which is a yes for good choices!

Here’s how you can transform your favorite Bigelow teas into a cool and refreshing glass or pitcher of iced tea:

Making Iced Tea, the Bigelow Tea Way

Step 1: Gather Ingredients
●    1 Bigelow tea bag (or two bags where Mint Medley Herbal Tea and Green Tea with Lemon are popular choices for a delicious iced tea combination) or 4–6 tea bags for a pitcher.
●    1 cup boiling water (or 8 cups for a pitcher)
●    1 tsp sugar or sweetener, optional (½ cup for a pitcher)
●    Ice cubes
●    Large glass or heat proof pitcher
●    Spoon

Tea Tip: Try combining blends! A fan-favorite is English Teatime Black Tea with I Love Lemon + Vitamin C. With over 150 flavors, the options are endless.

Step 2: Steep
●    Add hot water to the tea bag(s), leaving room for ice.
●    Steep for 3–5 minutes.

Tea Tip: Place a spoon in the glass before pouring hot water to prevent breakage, as Bigelow Tea president and CEO, Cindi Bigelow, recommends!

Step 3: Sweeten (Optional)

     ●    Add sugar or natural sweeteners. Stir to dissolve.

Tea Tip: Try adding some all-natural sweeteners like pureed peach and honey, which you can find in our  Minty Peachy Iced Tea recipe.

Step 4: Ice It

  • Let it cool naturally (overnight if you have to) so you don’t lose the flavor of the iced tea(s).
  • Pour over ice.

Tea Tip: Freeze extra tea with a sprig of mint in trays for flavorful and fun ice cubes!

Step 5: Enjoy
