The rain had stopped and the sun came out, but Louisville Plant employees had little idea of the storm approaching and what an impact it would have on everyones lives. The storm I’m referencing is The Ride To Recovery (R2R) .  This is a Military and VA Volunteer Service Office sponsored event to benefit mental and physical rehabilitation programs for our country’s wounded veterans and healing heroes that features cycling as the core activity. The mission of R2R is to improve the health and wellness of healing heroes worldwide by providing a life changing experience that can impact their lives forever.
As the police escourted the peloton of Heros to the Louisville Plant, claps and cheers filled the air as the 200+ Heros were greeted by the Louisville Plant employees, several guests including: Bob Kelly, SVP Sales & Marketing; Andy Gunnis, VP Manufacturing;  Chris Costello, National Sales Manager, Tim Richmond, RTD Sales Manager; Wayde Charest, Regional Sales Manager; special guest Phil Simms, R.C. Bigelow Tea Spokesman. Two of Bigelow’s very own, Tim Richmond (Veteran) and Cindi Bigelow, CEO rode with our Heros from downtown Louisville to the Louisville Plant.  The warm welcome and appreciation for their service to country did not stop upon arrival, as the Heros were treated to a variety of fresh fruit, energy bars and drinks as they mingled and shared their stories in preparation for their long journey and next stop 60 miles away in Elizabethtown, Kentucky.
As crazy and mysterious as it may seem, as the Heros rolled in, the clouds rolled out and the sun to shined down on these men & women that so graciouly put it all on the line so that we may enjoy our freedom. As the peloton rolled out and headed south to their next stop, these wonderful men and women truly touch everyones hearts.  BRAVO! Bigelow for hosting this event ………………the most heart touching one ever here in Louisville. THANKS!! Ride 2 Recovery for encouraging and assisting our verterans back to health.
