Health and Wellness - A family affair from J David Silva, Sr. Fairfield CT

Last month my family made a commitment to improving our health and well-being by deciding that we would, as a group, commit to eating better and exercising at least 3 times per week. We all understand the challenges with motivation and sticking to a plan of healthy eating and exercising, so we decided to support each other as a team.

Beginning last month we started a program of health and wellness. We are committed to exercising a minimum of 3 times per week, for 60 minutes each session. A session can include a bike ride, an outdoor walk, or working out at a gym. We are tracking our progress by each keeping a journal and encouraging each other to stick to the plan. By doing this as a group, we can better motivate and support one another. Every Saturday we plan on getting together to review the previous week's results. iStock_000019594781XSmall_veggie_heart

In addition to the exercising, we have also adopted a healthier way of eating. We have incorporated eating more fruits and vegetables daily. We have made a conscious effort to reduce the amount of processed foods that we purchase and consume and are now eating and drinking healthier options. We are also purchasing a juice machine and a natural food dehydrator to make healthier beverage and meal options.

I am looking forward to seeing the results of this challenging but fun endeavor. Hopefully the results will be self-evident!
