Conquer Chiari Walk Across America by Paul Caponera, Fairfield CT
On Saturday, September 21st I participated in
the "Conquer Chiari Walk Across America" in Westbrook, Connecticut.
The Connecticut walk had over 175 walkers and we raised over
$12,500. The walk had approximately 11,000 people across the U.S.
raise more than $540,000.
Chiari is a serious neurological disorder where the bottom part
of the brain, the cerebellum, descends out of the skull and crowds
the spinal cord, putting pressure on both the brain and spine
causing many symptoms. More than 300,000 people in the US are
affected with Chiari.
The Conquer Chiari walk was a very rewarding experience, because
it allowed me to meet my fellow Chiarians, and raise awareness and
donations for such an important cause.
