The R.C. Bigelow Tea Louisville Plant Celebrates 25 Years in Louisville by Thad Judy

Time sure flies passes quickly and how things have changed since R.C. Bigelow Tea decided to open its doors in Louisville, KY back in 1988. On July 26, 2013 the Louisville Plant employees celebrated its 25th Anniversary with the local community, state & local officials and our vendors who have all helped the Louisville Plant achieve great success over the last 25 years.

The celebration kicked off in grand style with Bob Swoboda, Production Manager (32 years of service & first Louisville employee) taking everyone down memory lane. Bob highlighted going from a distribution center on Collins Lane in 1988 with only six employees to where R.C. Bigelow Tea is now, a full blown manufacturing facility on Constant Comment Place with over 85 employees producing roughly 47 percent of the Company's retail teabags.  Following Bob's journey back to Bigelow's roots in Louisville, Jeffersontown Mayor Bill Dieruf, Louisville Mayor Representative Scott Love, and Commonwealth of Kentucky Governor's Office Representative, Bill Herron recognized R.C. Bigelow Tea for 25 years of service and success in Jeffersontown, Louisville, and the Commonwealth of Kentucky.  Most notably recognized by all were the R.C. Bigelow Louisville Plants sustained contributions to the community and state in the areas of greening, community service, charity involvement and support of U.S. Military Troops via the Tea For The Troops initiatives. Both of the Mayors Offices proclaimed June 26, 2013 as R.C. Bigelow Tea Day in Jeffersontown and Louisville.

With the Louisville Plants recycling and waste reduction program gaining praise by the state and being recommended as a model program for other organizations across the Commonwealth Kentucky,  John Elsiminger, KY EXCEL Coordinator  with the Kentucky Department of Environmental Protection reviewed / commented on the R.C. Bigelow Tea Louisville Plant's achievements involving recycling and waste reduction. To close the celebration ceremony out, Terri Weber, Opportunity Manager representing Greater Louisville Inc. conducted a ribbon cutting ceremony where Bob Swoboda donned the scissors and capped off 25 year of outstanding service by R.C Bigelow, Inc. in Louisville.

No celebration is complete without food!  Bootleg BBQ served up some great food that touched everyone's taste buds. Watch out and don't blink because another 25 years will zoom past before you know it! GREAT JOB LOUISVILLE PLANT!!!
