The Bigelow Tea Company is owned and managed by the Bigelow Family who approach the manufacture of Bigelow teas with the same enthusiasm Ruth Campbell Bigelow possessed more than 60 years ago.

The History of Tea:
Tea is consumed by more health-conscious people and in greater quantity than any beverage except water. Tea is made with tea leaves from the Camillia Sinensis plant which is an evergreen related to the camellia and indigenous to Assam India and also parts of China and Japan. The lanceolate tea leaves are dark green with cream-colored fragrant blossoms. Tea flavor optimization is helped by volatile oils, its stimulating properties to caffeine and its astringency to the tannin content. The largest tea grower in the world is China. Tea requires a protected habitat in a warm climate with much rainfall in order to grow.
