The Louisville plant recently held their first annual electronics roundup to collect used electronic devices as part of the trimester Green Goal. As part of this goal, each dayshift and night shift employee was asked to contribute at least one item as an effort to keep electronic items from reaching local landfills.

In this project, the plant partnered with Commonwealth Computer Recycling to properly dispose of all of the donated items. According to CCR’s website, “Commonwealth Computer Recycling ensures your compliance with federal data destruction regulations, including compliance with HIPAA, FCRA, Gramm-Leach-Bliley, Sarbanes-Oxley and others.
Stay in compliance with state, federal and local regulations for electronics disposal with CCR - We don't just protect your data; we protect your company by keeping you in compliance with state, federal and environmental laws for disposal of electronic waste. Environmental law violations can cost your company; for example, many companies are unaware that disposing of more than 220 pounds of electronic waste is a violation of EPA regulations. We can help you protect your company from environmental liability.

Protect the Environment with CCR - Not only are our methods of recycling in compliance with state, federal and local regulations, but go above and beyond to ensure total environmental protection.”

The roundup was a success! The Louisville facility collected televisions, speakers, computers, VCR and DVD players, telephones, cell phones, tools, and any other battery and electronic devices which employees were hopeful to dispose of. We were also able to dispose of obsolete or non-working electronic items generated by the plant in a safe and secure manner while remaining compliant with all state and federal regulations.
