On February 13, representatives from 44 area employers gathered to celebrate and honor their achievements in creating a healthy workplace. The Business Council of Fairfield County honors the efforts of employers who understand the competitive advantage of a healthy workforce and who have implemented a diverse range of programs to promote a healthy workplace and assist their employees to live healthier lives.

Bigelow Tea has won the Platinum Award (the highest level) for the last four years, having won the Gold Award the first two years. The application process begins in December and culminates with a healthy breakfast and recognition program in February. In order to attain the Platinum Award, a company must complete a six part application including:
  • Program Governance
  • Healthy Behaviors
  • Nutrition
  • Physical Activity
  • Safety
  • Prevention and Disease Management
In addition, they must provide a concise summary of the wellness program including its most important benefits, the challenges it is addressing and how it is being sustained. They must complete two outcome forms describing two outcomes based programs and the results as opposed to participation only programs. It is so very important that employees participate in as many programs as possible in order to accurately measure the company’s health.
Bigelow Tea employees should be very proud of this award. Congratulations!
